OnePlus is set to announce the launch date of the company’s upcoming smartphones – OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro – later today. But prior to the grand reveal, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed the names of the phones, and teased that the company’s next offering will utilise a new display technology that is quite expensive, but the end result is one of the best in the world. He also confirmed that the OnePlus 7 Pro will have 5G support. Additionally, key specifications of the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro duo have surfaced online, which tip the Snapdragon 855, alongside 5G support as well as a 90Hz display on the OnePlus 7 Pro.
Starting with the tweet shared by the OnePlus chief yesterday, Lau pointed to his statements in a Verge report claiming that the OnePlus 7 Pro will employ a new technology that will reportedly “redefine fast and smooth” performance when it comes to interacting with the display. OnePlus has increased the spending on its new display technology, adding that technology cost 300 percent compared to what’s seen in other flagship smartphones. He added that the display will turn out to be “super-smooth and very crisp” in the words of the OnePlus chief.
“The first time I saw it myself, I was stunned,” Lau was quoted as saying by the Verge. The wordplay clearly indicates that the OnePlus 7 Pro will sport a 90Hz display, just as the leaks had tipped. As for the type and resolution, the OnePlus 7 Pro will reportedly feature a 6.64-inch curved QHD+ Super AMOLED display. Lau also mentioned that the OnePlus 7 Pro will also bring 5G support.
